Description

OPI 2000 Test Strip – Opiates OPI/2000 Urine Dip Strip

The OPI 2000 test strip is a single-panel urine dip strip that screens a urine specimen for opiates (morphine) at a 2000 ng/mL cutoff. Each test gives a preliminary result in minutes and is sold individually, so you can order exactly the quantity your program needs.

The 2000 ng/mL opiate cutoff is the morphine cutoff used in federal workplace drug testing, and it reduces non-negative screens caused by low opiate concentrations.

This product is Forensic Use Only. Related options are listed in our single-panel drug test strips category, including the OPI/2000 opiate dip card.

OPI Dip Strip Cutoff Level

This dip strip screens for one target. Programs that need several drugs at once should compare our multi-panel cups and dip cards.

Drug Name Abbreviation Cutoff
Opiates (Morphine) OPI 2000 ng/mL

OPI 2000 Test Strip Features

Each dip strip is individually sealed and includes an internal control line, so every test shows whether it was run correctly.

The dip strip is used with urine collected in a separate cup. That keeps the cost per test low and lets you add a opiates screen to an existing collection process.

Because it screens only one target, the dip strip can be paired with a multi-panel cup or dip card when opiates needs to be added to a broader drug screen.

Why Screen for Opiates?

Workplace-style programs often use OPI/2000, while treatment programs usually prefer the more sensitive OPI/300.

How to Use and Read Results

Always follow the package insert supplied with the exact lot, because collection steps and reading times can differ between devices.

  1. Collect the urine specimen in a clean, separate collection cup.
  2. Remove the strip from the sealed pouch and hold it by the top end.
  3. Dip the arrow end into the urine without passing the MAX line, for the time stated in the insert.
  4. Lay the strip flat on a clean, non-absorbent surface and read the result within the stated window.
  • Negative: both the control line (C) and the test line (T) appear for the test. A faint test line is interpreted according to the insert.
  • Non-negative (preliminary positive): the control line appears but the test line does not. This is a preliminary screening result, not a confirmed result.
  • Invalid: no control line appears. Do not interpret the result; repeat the test with a new device.

A non-negative screen should be followed by laboratory confirmation according to your program’s procedure before any final decision is made. A screening result does not show impairment, dose or the time of use.

Intended Use, Storage & Limitations

This dip strip is labeled Forensic Use Only. Forensic Use Only status is different from CLIA-waived status and should be confirmed for each product before purchase.

Store sealed pouches as directed on the packaging, check the expiration date before use and use each device only once.

This is a preliminary screening test: it detects only the targets listed above at the stated cutoffs. As the FDA guidance on drugs-of-abuse screening tests explains, preliminary positive results should be confirmed by a laboratory. Instant tests are not an authorized method for DOT-regulated drug testing under 49 CFR §40.210.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this OPI 2000 test strip detect?

It screens urine for opiates (morphine) (OPI) at a 2000 ng/mL cutoff.

What is the cutoff level of this dip strip?

The cutoff is 2000 ng/mL. Concentrations below the cutoff produce a negative screening result.

Is this dip strip Forensic Use Only?

This dip strip is labeled Forensic Use Only. It is intended for forensic settings such as courts, probation, corrections and forensic laboratories.

Is a positive result on the dip strip final?

No. A non-negative result is preliminary and should be confirmed by a laboratory according to your program’s procedure.

When should I choose OPI 2000 instead of OPI 300?

Choose OPI 2000 when your program follows the higher workplace cutoff; choose OPI 300 when you need a more sensitive opiate screen.

Can I buy these in bulk?

Yes. The price per strip drops with quantity, and orders of 100 strips or more ship free.
