What Does the EtG Panel Screen For?

EtG, or ethyl glucuronide, is a metabolite produced after alcohol is processed by the body. The EtG panel in this cup uses a 300 ng/mL screening cutoff.

A drug test with EtG does not measure current impairment and should not be interpreted like a breath-alcohol test. EtG results can also be affected by the timing and amount of exposure, individual factors and incidental exposure to alcohol-containing products.

Testing programs should interpret EtG results according to their written policies and the manufacturer’s instructions. Preliminary non-negative results should be confirmed when required.

Fentanyl Screening at 20 ng/mL

The fentanyl panel provides preliminary urine screening at a 20 ng/mL cutoff. Fentanyl is not automatically included in every standard 12-panel drug test, which makes it important to verify that FEN appears in the selected product configuration.

The rapid assay should not be assumed to detect every fentanyl analog. Buyers should review the manufacturer’s insert and cross-reactivity information when a testing program requires coverage for a particular compound or metabolite.

Drug Panels and Cutoff Levels

A screening cutoff is the concentration used to distinguish a preliminary negative result from a preliminary non-negative result. A negative result does not necessarily mean that no drug or metabolite is present; it may be present below the assay cutoff.

Adulterants in Drug Testing and Specimen Validity

The three ADLTX indicators evaluate pH, specific gravity and creatinine. These indicators provide information about specimen characteristics that may be inconsistent with an expected urine sample or that may suggest dilution or other manipulation.

ADLTX indicators do not identify every substance that may have been added to a specimen. They also do not replace proper collection procedures, chain-of-custody documentation or laboratory specimen-validity testing when those procedures are required.

Compare each indicator pad with the color chart supplied with the product at the exact time specified in the manufacturer’s instructions.

How to Use the 12 Panel Urine Test Cup

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions supplied with the specific lot of test cups.

1. Prepare the test. Keep the cup sealed until specimen collection is ready to begin. Check the expiration date and review the product insert.
2. Collect the specimen. Remove the lid and collect urine directly in the cup according to the required collection volume.
3. Secure the lid. Replace and tighten the lid immediately after collection.
4. Check the temperature. Read the built-in temperature strip within the time stated in the product instructions.
5. Allow the panels to develop. Keep the cup upright on a flat surface for the specified development period.
6. Read the drug panels. Interpret each Control and Test line within the manufacturer’s result-reading window.
7. Read the ADLTX indicators. Compare the pH, specific-gravity and creatinine pads with the included color chart at the specified time.

How to Interpret the Drug-Panel Results

• Negative: A Control line and Test line appear for the corresponding assay. A faint Test line should be interpreted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Preliminary non-negative: The Control line appears, but the Test line does not appear for the corresponding assay.
• Invalid: The Control line does not appear. Repeat the procedure with a new device.

This cup provides preliminary screening results. A non-negative result should be confirmed using an appropriate laboratory method when required by policy, regulation or the consequences of the testing decision.
