Description

Gabapentin Dip Card Test – GAB/2000 Urine Test

The gabapentin dip card test is a single-panel urine dip card that screens a urine specimen for gabapentin at a 2000 ng/mL cutoff. Each test gives a preliminary result in minutes and is sold individually, so you can order exactly the quantity your program needs.

Gabapentin is a prescription medication that is not part of standard drug panels, so it requires a dedicated GAB test.

This product is Forensic Use Only. Related options are listed in our single-panel dip card tests category, including the gabapentin drug test.

GAB Dip Card Cutoff Level

This dip card screens for one target. Programs that need several drugs at once should compare our multi-panel cups and dip cards.

Gabapentin Dip Card Test Features

Each dip card is individually sealed and includes an internal control line, so every test shows whether it was run correctly.

The dip card is used with urine collected in a separate cup. That keeps the cost per test low and lets you add a gabapentin screen to an existing collection process.

Because it screens only one target, the dip card can be paired with a multi-panel cup or dip strip when gabapentin needs to be added to a broader drug screen.

Why Screen for Gabapentin?

Gabapentin misuse is a concern in correctional and treatment settings, which is why many programs screen for it separately.

How to Use and Read Results

Always follow the package insert supplied with the exact lot, because collection steps and reading times can differ between devices.

  1. Collect the urine specimen in a clean, separate collection cup.
  2. Open the pouch, remove the protective cap and dip the card into the urine without exceeding the MAX line.
  3. Hold the card in the specimen for the time stated in the insert, then replace the cap and lay it flat.
  4. Read each result line within the interpretation window stated in the insert.
  • Negative: both the control line (C) and the test line (T) appear for the test. A faint test line is interpreted according to the insert.
  • Non-negative (preliminary positive): the control line appears but the test line does not. This is a preliminary screening result, not a confirmed result.
  • Invalid: no control line appears. Do not interpret the result; repeat the test with a new device.

A non-negative screen should be followed by laboratory confirmation according to your program’s procedure before any final decision is made. A screening result does not show impairment, dose or the time of use.

Intended Use, Storage & Limitations

This dip card is labeled Forensic Use Only. Forensic Use Only status is different from CLIA-waived status and should be confirmed for each product before purchase.

Store sealed pouches as directed on the packaging, check the expiration date before use and use each device only once.

This is a preliminary screening test: it detects only the targets listed above at the stated cutoffs. As the FDA guidance on drugs-of-abuse screening tests explains, preliminary positive results should be confirmed by a laboratory. Instant tests are not an authorized method for DOT-regulated drug testing under 49 CFR §40.210.
